Each year The Pantone Color Institute chooses the colour of the year by conducting research on global colour trends. This stretches beyond the world of art and design and includes cinema, fashion, social and political changes as well as other global events. For over 50 years, The Pantone Color Institue has been the universal colour identification system. The first 'Color of the Year' was announced in the year 2000: Cerulean (Pantone 15-4020.

The word Pantone is a combination of the words "Pan" (meaning All) and "Tone" (meaning colour). Each Pantone colour has a different code that stands for specific shades. Currently, there are over 15,000 Pantone colours.
The new colour is announced towards the end of the year and is a forecast for upcoming trends in the world of interior design, graphic and even fashion design. It's meant to reflect lifestyle trends, or a collective desire or feeling.
The 2025 Pantone Colour of the year is called PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse. It's a "warming, brown hue imbued with richness. It nurtures us with its suggestion of the delectable qualities of chocolate and coffee, answering our desire for comfort," Pantone website: PANTONE® USA | Pantone Color of the Year 2025.

So how can you incorporate Mocha Mousse into your home in 2025?
Create contrast by pairing it with creamy white soft furnishings (pillows, throws, curtains, etc.).
Natural wood finishes can be used for texture and metal accents like gold or brass will add a touch of sophistication to the room.
Natural greens like olive can be used with Mocha Mousse to create an earthy feel in the space while pairing it with neutral stones or marble textures will create a more relaxed environment.
Complementary colours like yellow can add vinbrance and energy to the room.
I've created a sample board to show you how Mocha Mousse can be used with the different elements mentioned above:
